President's Message

On behalf of the Central Alberta Teachers’ Convention I’m pleased to welcome you to this year’s convention. Having the opportunity to work with this talented and ambitious committee to bring you the premier professional development event of the year has been a pleasure.

This year’s theme – “Education: It’s Not Just Black and White... There’s Grey Matter Too!” – reminds us that we are committing ourselves to a craft that is, of its own nature, multi-faceted. When working with children and our colleagues, rarely do we find things as simplistic as they may seem. Indeed, one of the benefits of this profession is that we get to experience everyday life and situations from a multitude of perspectives and perceptions.

Professional development takes on many forms, and it can be a challenge to accommodate all of the things that such a diverse group of professionals would find desirable. With this in mind, please take the time to fill out your evaluations or speak to a CATCA representative to assist us in continuing to be successful in this ever-changing pursuit.

Please take the time to visit the exhibits and displays. We will also once again be displaying student artwork for you to enjoy. We would also like to invite you to join us Thursday afternoon in the Harvest Center for our social event.

Above all else, take this time to reconnect with your colleagues and rejuvenate your grey matter. Have fun and enjoy yourself.

Eric Armitage

President, CATCA
